CONGRATULATIONS TO ERICA ARNOLD AND ARTEMI OKUNEV!

It is with great pleasure that the Fordney Foundation announces the newly married couple, Erica Arnold and Artemi Okunev!  As you may know, Erica Arnold is our resident DREAM girl.  Last year the Fordney Foundation created a dance program called DREAM in the west valley area of Southern California for elementary school students. Erica Arnold was contacted and agreed to search for schools in the area that would be interested in implementing the program. The first year of the DREAM program went extremely well and was well received by two school administrations, faculty members, parents, and students. We are all so proud of the results and can’t wait to get started with a brand new school year that will start in September.  Erica and her husband are not only talented professional ballroom dancers, they are gifted in the art of teaching dance to children, teenagers, adults, and seniors.

I know that both Erica and Artemi have huge fans at two schools: Colfax Charter Elementary and Woodlake Elementary Community Charter. So, kids, this one’s for you!  Marilyn Fordney, our Founder and Director of Fordney Foundation, and her husband, our Assistant Director, Alex Havasi, were invited guests and were able to give us highlights of our DREAM girl’s wedding.  This is how the wedding day went and we are lucky enough to have photographs taken by Alex Havasi too!

It was a beautiful warm sunny day at the beach where Erica and Artemi said their wedding vows on Sunday, August 20, 2017. Their reception was held at the LA Ballroom in Sherman Oaks, California later in the afternoon.  The reception began with an introduction of the newly married couple by their long time friend and professional dancer, Jonathan Curtis. Then they performed their first dance together as a wedded pair.

Most attendees were from the world of dance and some from the elementary school DREAM program, such as Emily Dobson and her parents.   They served a buffet of Russian delicacies and their cake was created as a scene from the beach to go with the theme of their wedding.
